Ninth Church in Mid-Wilshire History

Ninth Church of Christ Scientist, Los Angeles was formed in 1914 as a branch of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1926 to 1996, the church was located in a large Tudor-style building at the corner of Fifth and Normandie. In 1996, the members voted to sell the church building, and in 1997, Ninth Church re-located to the Lower Plaza of the Equitable Plaza Building on Wilshire Boulevard at Mariposa. The new location provides a simple contemporary home for church services, Sunday School and Reading Room.
